play: subversive architecture

Play in architectural spaces is often forbidden when the space is purpose built for office or community function. The very concept of skating through the corridors is anarchy.

In PLAY: Subversive Architecture, the newly built RMIT Design Hub becomes a site for just such anarchy. Though a series of installations across the building, participants can use and experience the space as its designers most certainly never intended.

Originally commissioned for the Design Research Institute’s Convergence exhibition, PLAY: Subversive Architecture will remain when the rest of the exhibition is packed up and put away. Unauthorized, unannounced, always in flux – we will continue to play. Come find us and join our anarchy.
